and drums
Simone
started her career as drummer for a hard
rock band in São Paulo in the 80s.
As
a percussionist, she has collaborated with
various reggae and pop musicians, including
Itamar Assumpção, Chico Cesar
and Vange Milliet. She has also recorded
with Miriam Maria, Virginia Rosa, Alzira
Espíndola, Rita Ribeiro, Péricles
Cavalcanti and, more recently, with the
violinist Badi Assad and the singers Zizi
Possi and Zélia Duncan.
Currently,
she is working with Zeca Baleiro, is part
of the band Funk Como Le Gusta, accompanies
Paulo Miklos from the Titãs on his
latest solo CD, continues working with Badi
Assad - who has just finished recording
his latest CD - and is part of Zélia
Duncan`s band in her new show.
She
played on a CD produced by Dialeto SP, which
they are developing with the indian tribe
Mehinaku, in the Alto Xingu. Through her
workshop experience, she decided to do some
solo work. Now she is working with Alfredo
Bello to put together the various musical
ideas which they call Projeto
Cru
Future
Plans
"
Record my compositions - but always continuing
to play!!. Travel to carry out musical research
- especially in percussion. Become more
involved in projects like this on, such
as research into different peoples and cultures,
working with NGOs and on social projects,
get to know the Xingu indian tribe, visit
Cuba, Africa - and many other developing
countries
."
What
she expects from this project
"
To get to know another culture and play
with new musicians, developing a unique
piece of intercultural work , where the
relationships we form can help build a better
work - at least musically!"
