violin, rabeca and saxaphone

Swiss, and living in Brazil since 1995, Thomas began his musical studies as a violinist, moving on to study the saxaphone with Othmar Kramis at the Lucerne Jazz School. His work covers a broad range, from free improvisation to contemporary jazz and Brazilian music from different regions.

In 1999, he played at the Montreux Jazz Festival, with Chico Cesar, Rita Ribeiro and Zeca Baleiro. He formed a duo with the Italian percussionist Alessandra Belloni and performed in Switzerland, Italy, New York and Brazil. In 2002, he toured France, Spain and England with the instrumental quintet formed by Carlinhos Antunes.

He took part in the show Mãe Gentil by the choreographer Ivaldo Bertazzo and, working with Fábio Freire, recorded the sound track for the documentary feature Saudade do Futuro, by Cesar Paes.

Currently, Thomas plays in the instrumental group Quarteto Original from São Paulo.
