Alfredo Bello e Simone Soul

The Brazilian musicians involved in the project had their first rehearsal last Saturday afternoon ( 11 January). Simone Soul, Alfredo Bello, Renata Mattar and Fernando Catatau met at Alfredo and Simone`s studio to start the collaborative and creative part of the project ( see the photos). The musicians took as their starting point two themes recorded by Renata Mattar, one of them sung by basket weavers in the the town of Grota Funda in Bahia and the other sung by bean harvesters in Bahia. The session went well and
was productive. By the end of the afternoon, the group had practically finished a brand-new piece of music to send to their Scottish colleagues, who will be meeting for their first proper rehearsal on 26 January at the Arches in Glasgow.
