violin and composer

Chris Stout, from Shetland, now lives in Glasgow, where he studied violin and electro-acoustic composition at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Although the traditional music of Scotland and, in particular, Shetland has been Chris's grounding as a musician, extensive work in the fields of Jazz, Salsa, Dance and electro-acoustic music has developed Chris's ability to improvise freely in other styles.
In recent years Chris has performed and recorded with such artists as Annie Whitehead (trombone) Kevin McKenzie (guitar) and Edinburgh based band Salsa Celtica.

Chris's own band Fiddlers Bid continue to wow audiences all over the world and have just completed a successful tour of Australia, playing in venues such as Melbourne Concert Hall and Sydney Opera House.

As well as playing the violin Chris Stout is in great demand as a composer of both instrumental and electro-acoustic music and currently working on a piece for saxophonist Phil Barcroft. The piece will be performed as part of a national British tour in February.
