Sombras, Por Supuesto
[Shadows, of Course]

The spectral universe of the German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder inspires the work of director Romina Paula and Compañía El Silencio, which elaborates around absence. While the plot has a realistic atmosphere to it, its dialogues flirt with absurdity, and the audience, surrounding the stage, witnesses this narrative. In it, two police officers make a list of the belongings of a couple’s home, in search of evidence about a case that is not really explained. But what starts as a discussion about family objects and their obsolescence subtly turns into personal confessions, bringing to light the intimate shadows of each character.

Compañia El Silencio was established in 2007, when it premiered its first show, Algo de Ruido Hace [The Sound It Makes], written and directed by Romina Paula and played by Esteban Bigliardi, Esteban Lamothe, and Pilar Gamboa. Susana Pampin joined the group in their second work, El Tiempo Todo Entero [The Entire Whole Time], and Sebastián Arpesella became part of the company with Fauna

Romina Paula is a playwright, writer, actress, and film and theater director from Argentina. Her works explore the entanglement of cultural forms and body experiences, bringing together different languages, genres, and aesthetic traditions, including autobiography, poetry, folklore, pop music, and german romanticism.
