With tones of absurdity, the show pictures a uchronia, a hypothetical story depicting a supposedly perfect communist Portugal and a democratic Chile going through crisis. In this comical and sarcastic setting, a Chilean commission visits the European country asking for help to implement the Portuguese model in South America. But as they do not know how to proceed, they suggest waging a war as a solution to their problems. Drawing parallels with the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution and the coup in Chile, the play reflects about social regimes in times of discontent, about creating futures without being mindful of the past. With this work, the Portuguese Teatro Experimental do Porto and the Chilean Teatro La María partner once again, after their collaboration that resulted in Estreito/Estrecho, performed at MIRADA 2022.
Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) was established in 1953 and is the longest-standing professional theater group in Portugal. sSnce 2012, its artistic director is Gonçalo Amorim.
Teatro La María, directed by Alexandra von Hummel and Alexis Moreno, was born in 2000 in Santiago, Chile. G.O.L.P. is the second artistic collaboration between the two companies, which presented Estreito / Estrecho in Portugal, Chile, and Brazil in 2021.
