The show brings Macbeth, a tragedy by William Shakespeare about a noble man who commits atrocities to get to the throne, to the context of 1910’s revolutionary Mexico. In the adaptation by Antonio Zúñiga and Juan Carrillo, also inspired by Mexican authors including Juan Rulfo and Elena Garro, the ambition for power rules the national territory. When General José Mendoza receives tempting predictions from an old witch, aggravated by his persuasive wife, a seemingly endless stream of blood ensues.

Los Colochos Teatro is a company from Mexico city that is dedicated to critical national theater. Created six years ago, the group has taken part in festivals in Mexico and abroad. Its repertoire includes, in addition to Mendoza, works like El juego de la silla, a puppet show about the Mexican Revolution, and El enigma del Serengueti, a farce about desolation.
