A Velocidade da Luz
[The Speed of Light]

Created with older adults and based on their memories, the show directed by the Argentinian Marco Canale occupies spaces around the city, intertwining true stories and fiction. Local residents with no theater background are selected in each area where the performance takes place, sharing their memories—this version is the outcome of a four-week residency with locals from the Santos area. Their accounts are weaved together through a fictional script connected to the story of the city. During the performance, viewers walk around different streets and spaces, getting to the home of these characters and to a “sacred” place in the city, where they share stories and songs, building an intimate cartography of the territory. 

Marco Canale is a theater and film director from Buenos Aires who creates theater and film projects in the intersection between biography, documentary, and fiction, moving around public and private spaces. His plays have been performed in places including the Edinburgh Festival, Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt (Berlin), The Row (New York), Festival Re/Posiciones (Mexico City), Young Vic Theatre (London), Casa De América (Madrid), and Teatro Nacional Cervantes (Buenos Aires).
