In this workshop targeting performing arts people, the Peruvian group Yuyachkani shares their theatrical and pedagogical proposal. The collective trains actors, actresses, choirs, and musical bands for the stage, also addressing the use of masks and aspects of theatricality in the public space. Those selected for the meetings take part in the show El Teatro es um Sueño, performed at MIRADA. The work occupies outdoor spaces to pay tribute to theater, creating a moment of fantasy combining everyday life, acting, and live music. 

Yuyachkani is a Peruvian group that has been continuously active for 53 years, combining tradition and modernity. Its name means “I’m thinking,” “I’m remembering” in Quechua. Its work can be read in parallel with gravitational moments of its country’s social and political reality, in dialogue with different times and proposing critical, nonconformist theater. It is currently acknowledged in the educational field as a center of performing arts research connected to the Peruvian and Latin American culture. 

Residency: 8.30 to 9.03 Friday to Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal: 9.04 Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Shows: 9.05, 06 and 07 Thursday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
