Ubu Tropical
[Ubu of the Tropics]
Drawing from the figure of the jester, the group performs its version of the story of Père Ubu, a grotesque and ambitious character who is the symbol of destruction and stupidity, committing atrocities to rise to the throne of Poland. This choir of comical characters emerges on the scene with mudded bodies, clothes, and props, as if they were climate refugees enduring political neglect. Pervaded by music, the adaptation of the work Ubu on the Hill, by French author Alfred Jarry, has influences from Brazilian tropicalism and modernism and alludes to the country’s recent political and social scenario.
Tribo de Atuadores Ói Nóis Aqui Traveiz conducts research on language through street theater, experience theater, performance, and spaces of memory.
