Esperando Godot
[Waiting for Godot]

Teat(r)o Oficina presents its version of Beckett’s work, a metaphor about hopelessness conducted by Estragon and Vladimir, two vagabond clowns that meet at the end of the world. Not knowing why, they wait for Godot, in a state between paralysis and action. In this production, the group aims to disrupt the idea of messianism and the hope for divine liberation and invites us to take action and live in the present. There are also references to recent tragedies, drawing a parallel with the post-war time during which the work was written. 

The duration of this show is 210 minutes, with an interval of 15 minutes.

Teat(r)o Oficina Uzyna Uzona was established in 1958 and directed by José Celso Martinez Corrêa (1937-2023). Its theatrical rites combine music, visual arts, video, film, architecture, urban studies, dance, and poetry. A company continuously showing its repertoire, its works include the shows O Rei Da Vela [The Candle King], Roda Viva [Spinning Wheel], As Bacantes [The Bacchae], Os Sertões, Cacilda!, Mistérios Gozozos [Joyful Mysteries], and Esperando Godot [Waiting for Godot].
